The Project

The school gained funding from Sport England to update their sports facilities. This included the conversion of an existing garage to additional changing facilities, an extension to their Sports Hall and alterations.

Requirements:

  • Works included installing a new concrete floor, construction of new block work walls, rendering, installation of a new ceiling, joinery, plumbing, electrical works, painting and plastering.
  • Works in the Sports Hall included clearing the site of debris/top soil, excavate & re-concreting the foundations, roofing works, tarmacing, installation of windows, doors & new ceiling, plastering, painting and electrical works.

“We chose Construction Linx over their competitors on a mix of value for money and an excellent relationship through previous work they had done with the school.”

Problem Solved

The first stage of work in the changing rooms was the testing for, and removal of, asbestos.

Once work had started work it was discovered that the concrete to be excavated had been re-enforced and would require an extra 3 days of work and additional equipment hire. This was an issue as the school was working from a grant, meaning their budget could not be adjusted. The extra cost was partly absorbed by ourselves.
